Board Committees

Consumer Protection Committee

The Consumer Protection committee exclusively discusses topics relating to the protection of mental health consumers in the State of California. Issues relating to enforcement and strategies to increase consumer awareness are common topics at these meetings. This committee consists of Judy Johnson, LEP (Chair), Elise Froistad, MFT, Victor Perez, and Joan Walmsley, LCSW.

LCSW Education Committee

The LCSW Education Committee reviews the current curriculum and education requirements for licensed clinical social workers in California. This committee works closely with the public, accredited schools, professional associations, agencies and various other stakeholders. This committee consists of Renee Lonner, LCSW (Chair), Joan Walmsley, LCSW and Donna DiGiorgio.

MFT Education Committee

The MFT Curriculum Education Committee reviews the current curriculum and education requirements of marriage and family therapists in California. This committee works closely with the public, accredited and approved schools, professional associations, agencies and various other stakeholders. This committee consists of Dr. Ian Russ, MFT (Chair) and Donna DiGiorgio.

Planning Committee

The Planning Committee meets to review the Board’s current progress towards achieving the objectives and goals outlined in its Strategic Plan. This committee consists of Judy Johnson, LEP (Chair) and D’Karla Leach.

Policy and Advocacy Committee

The Policy and Advocacy Committee conducts several meetings each year to discuss current and potential legislative and regulatory proposals relating to the Board’s mission. These meetings, like all Board and Committee meetings unless otherwise indicated, are open to the public, and public comments are encouraged at meetings. This committee consists of Donna DiGiorgio (Chair), Renee Lonner, LCSW, Karen Roye, and Dr. Ian Russ, MFT.
