The Board's Regulation sections are contained in the California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 16 of Division 18, Articles 1-10. You can download the current version of the Board's Statutes and Regulations Relating to the Practice of Marriage and Family Therapy, Educational Psychology, and Clinical Social Work. The Board's Statutes and Regulations contain sections of the California Business and Professions Code and the California Code of Regulations. The publication also contains miscellaneous code sections from the California Health and Safety Code and the California Welfare and Institutions Code.

Citations and Fines: Effective September 3, 2006, Section 1886.40 of Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR) was amended. This section pertains to the Board’s citation and fine program for Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP) and Board registrants. These amendments increase the maximum fine from $2,500 to $5,000 for specified violations.

Changes Without Regulatory Effect (technical or editorial changes):

A. Effective February 21, 2006: Technical changes were made to the following sections: 1833.1, 1870, 1870.1. Technical changes were also made to form 1800 37A-523 "Responsibility Statement for Supervisors of a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee or Intern," form 1800 37A-521 "Supervisory Plan" for associate clinical social workers, and form 1800 37A-522, "Responsibility Statement for Supervisors of an Associate Clinical Social Worker." The final language is listed below and the revised forms can be found on our "Forms and Publications" page.

B. Effective December 18, 2005: Grammatical changes which were made to the following affected sections: 1807.2, 1833, 1833.1, 1833.2, 1887.4, 1889, 1889.1, 1889.3.

C. Effective October 20, 2005: Changes in regulation and related forms to conform with statutory changes, as well as some technical and grammatical changes. The affected sections are: 1870, 1870.1, and 1874.

D. Effective May 25, 2005: Change license title from MFCC to MFT to conform with prior statutory change. The affected sections are: 1805.1, 1807, 1807.2, 1811, 1816, 1816.1, 1816.4, 1833, 1833.1, 1833.2, 1846, 1846.1, 1850.7, 1874, 1886, 1887.4, 1887.9, 1889, 1889.1, 1889.2, 1889.3.
