Testing Accommodations

The Board provides qualified applicants with reasonable accommodations in testing as described below. All requests for accommodation must be received 90 - 120 days prior to scheduling an examination.

The Board will not provide accommodations at the examination site without prior approval.

The Board recognizes its responsibilities under the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act by providing testing accommodations or auxiliary aids or services for applicants who can substantiate the need for accommodation due to a physical or mental disability or a qualified medical condition.

Reasonable, appropriate, and effective accommodations may be requested by submitting a Candidate Request for Testing Accommodation package. Contact the Board office to have the forms mailed or download the package here. Examination sites are physically accessible to individuals with disabilities.

If you have been granted accommodations for the Standard Written examination, it is not necessary to reapply for accommodations for the Written Clinical Vignette examination.

NON-SATURDAY/SUNDAY/HOLIDAY EXAMINATIONS DUE TO RELIGIOUS CONVICTIONS - Applicants may arrange the time and place for taking the examination, six days per week at most test centers, by following the directions provided in the examination handbooks.

Additional information about testing accommodations may be obtained by contacting Mary Miranda at (916) 574-7862.

NOTE: If you were granted ESL accommodations prior to July 1, 2011, those accommodations will remain in place until either you become licensed; abandon your application; or request that they be discontinued.
