Licensee Information
The Board of Behavioral Sciences receives tens of thousands of renewal applications each year. While renewing your license may seem simple enough (you receive a courtesy renewal reminder, fill out the form, and send the payment), failure to renew in a timely manner or, in the case of MFTs and LCSWs, failure to complete the mandatory continuing education units can result in serious consequences.
If you are a licensee or a registrant in the process of renewing, submitting a complete renewal application to the Board in a timely manner is critical, especially since an expired license or registration limits your ability to practice. Keeping an updated address on file with the Board is also critical as the Board uses your address of record to send you not only courtesy renewal reminders, but important notices and publications as well.
For MFTs and LCSWs, the renewal process also includes completing continuing education. In order to renew a license as active, MFTs and LCSWs must complete the required continuing education units. Those who renew inactive are not required to complete continuing education.
The Board also has information available for those interested in being a Continuing Education Provider.
